You continue to benefit from SEO even when it is stopped i.e. your site will still rank high; although the results will drop off over time (your site will rank gradually lower once SEO is stopped). With Google Ads on the other hand, you start seeing results immediately i.e. once the campaign starts, you immediately receive more traffic/clicks to your site. However, once you stop your Google Ads campaign, the clicks stop i.e. you will get less traffic to your site.
